The Tour de France is the most famous cycling race in the world. This multi-day cycling race, which, this year, will be held from 29 June to 21 July mostly runs through France and is one of the most popular sporting events alongside the World Cup and the Olympic Games. Since this year's Olympic Games will be held in France and more or less coincide with the Tour de France, the finish of the Tour de France will, for the first time ever, not be held in Paris, but in Nice.

Tips to experience the Tour de France at its best
- Good preparation is key. Prepare yourself well by looking up the route before you go and watch a stage of the Tour. You can find all routes on the Tour de Francewebsite.
- Find a good spot to watch the spectacle from. Are you looking for a quieter place? Go just outside one of the cities or villages on the route. In the town or city centre it is usually a lot busier, but there is always a lot of fun.
- Pack the right stuff. Waiting and watching the race is a lot more enjoyable if you can sit on a picnic blanket or camping chair. Also be sure to take plenty of snacks.
- Be aware of the weather. Provide cooling in heat and something warm to put on in cold and rain.
- Be careful along the side of the road. The cyclists of the Tour pass by at lightning speed. So, make sure you have enough distance from the road and keep a close eye on children.
