L'Essert, the ski area surrounding Abondance, is a beautiful area located on a plateau of 1000m high and is characterized by the high peaks of Mont Jorat (1830m), Mont Grange (2432m) and Pic de la Corne (2084m). The exceptionally good and thick snow layer which covers the ski area guarantees winter sports enthusiasts a dream holiday.
Abondance owes its reputation to its family friendliness due to its accessibility to skiers of all ages and those of all levels. You can go to the quiet and charming ski area with 14 slopes by gondola, which departs from the village centre. The slopes vary in difficulty from green to black, so there is something suited for everyone in the family. There are also numerous cozy mountain restaurants located on the slopes, each with their own sun terraces, that serve traditional Savoyard food and drinks. For the more experienced winter sports enthusiasts and adventurers, the ski resort of Abondance offers access to the higher slopes and the Portes du Soleil ski area, which combined have over 650 km of slopes spread over 12 resorts. The Portes du Soleil connects 12 major resorts, including for example Morzine and Avoriaz.
Those who would like to learn to ski or snowboard can take lessons in l'Essert. The ski school offers plenty of opportunities for both young and old. The abundant ski area is equipped with a snow line for the little ones, games for children, and a ski lift that goes to the green slope from the bottom of the slopes. Lovers of snowboarding, miniski, sledging or snow walks can also indulge themselves in L'Essert.
