Ski area Portes du Soleil

The ski network of Les Portes du Soleil is particularly popular among snowboarders and skiers. It is the largest ski resort in Europe and has 650 kilometres of slopes and 200 mountain lifts, spread out over 12 ski villages. The ski lifts of these 12 villages are connected to each other, giving you the opportunity to ski from village to village. Yearly the ski area is upgraded with newer and faster chairlifts and gondolas. Even during the busiest seasons, there is literally no waiting time. This is due to the vastness of the area and the fact that most days two adjacent lifts are used to transport everyone smooth and fast.

Due to the width of the area, tours are also highly recommended in the area. Ski from village to village, from valley to valley and even from country to country, seen as Portes du Soleil is partly located in France and partly in Switzerland!

A unique destination for your winter sports centered holiday

The area got its name due to the Col du Portes des Soleil, one of the highest peaks located in the middle of the ski area. The highest peak in the ski resort is the Les Haut Forts (2466 meters) and is located near the town of Avoriaz.
Various routes have been mapped out for you, making it easy to get to know a large part of the ski area. Les Portes du Soleil is almost always guaranteed of snow due to its high location and the use of snow cannons. Thanks to this you can enjoy well-covered snowy slopes throughout the whole season!

Portes du Soleil also distinguishes itself from other ski areas due to the fact that the area is not affected as much by mass tourism. The area has no huge apartment complexes, but instead has beautiful picturesque villages, wooden chalets and romantic views. Portes du Soleil is the ideal destination for skiers of any levels, whilst being able to enjoy the well-preserved authentic French lifestyle.
