All these areas are relatively close to or very near to your apartment.
Portes du Soleil, the largest winter sports region of Europe with over 650km of slopes, is located on the border of France and Switzerland. Popular ski resorts located in Portes du Soleil are: Morzine, Avoriaz, Abondance, Champéry, Châtel, La Chapelle d'Abondance, Les Gets, Montrion, Morgins, St-Jean-d'Aulps, Torgon and Val d'Illiez-Champoussin & Les Crosets. Due to the vastness of Portes du Soleil and the enormous range of slopes, there are plenty of options for amazing ski tours. The Portes du Soleil circuit is a must for experienced skiers. You can complete the entire tour on skis. On the way there are plenty of fun mountain huts and small mountain villages where you can take a break and enjoy a snack and drink. All places in Portes du Soleil use a "hands-free" lift pass system.
L'Essert is the local ski resort of Abondance and is one of the twelve atmospheric ski villages of Portes du Soleil. Near your apartment there are plenty of ski- and snowboard possibilities ideal for beginners or families with children. Abondance and La Chapelle d'Abondance have plenty of accessible descents. Do you or your children only have a little experience with skiing? Then you should definitely make use of ESF ski school in Abondance. This ski school is highly recommended and can help you gain confidence with making descents. Abondance is located at an altitude of 936 to 1730 metres.
Châtel is recommended for sports enthusiasts with the necessary experience but who would like to take it easy and not make long day trips. This bustling ski region is only 10 kilometres away and less than a fifteen minute drive or shuttle ride from your apartment. This ski region gives access to the whole ski area of Châtel, the ski resort of La Chapelle d'Abondance, the Swiss ski resort Torgon and "Le Corbeau" in the Swiss ski resort Morgins. Châtel has a simple, direct connection with the large ski area Les Portes du Soleil.
Are you a real ski fanatic with sufficient experience and do you enjoy long ski trips with plenty of variety? Then the Portes du Soleil ski pass is ideal for you. The Portes du Soleil is a beautiful white ski landscape in an unspoilt environment with snow-covered spruce forests and alpine meadows. There is over 600km of slopes which connect 12 ski resorts and 2 countries with each other. The area has over 100 snow cannons to ensure that the snow is in good condition between December and April. There are restaurants along the slopes, perfect for grabbing a bite to eat whilst you take a break. The L'Essert ski area, part of Abondance, is not connected with Portes du Soleil by slopes, but you can take a shuttle to La chapelle d'Abondance, which is 5 minutes and 6km away, from which you have access to this large area.
