Cascade du Rouget

One of the most beautiful waterfalls in the French Alps is the Cascade du Rouget. This waterfall is located near the town of Sixt-Fer-à-Cheval, near the border with Switzerland. From a height of 90m, the water plunges down with enormous force. You can visit this impressive natural phenomenon during your holiday by going by car and parking in the nearby car park. You’ll need to walk the last part. There are other waterfalls in the area but this one is the most beautiful.

Lake Annecy

Lake Annecy is one of the most famous lakes in France. It is a bit of a drive from Abondance but definitely worth visiting for a day. The lake is located between the mountains of Massif des Bauges. You can practice various water sports on the lake, or you can relax on the beaches surrounding the lake. Be sure to also head into the beautiful town of Annecy and drive up into the mountains where you enjoy a beautiful view over the lake.

Cirque du Fer-à-Cheval

Cirque du Fer-à-Cheval in the Giffre Massif is the most beautiful and largest basin in the Alps. The cliffs at the edges of the valley are between 500 to 700meters in height. There are hiking trails on these cliffs which gives you beautiful views over the valley and of the surrounding mountains such as the Pic de Tenneverge (2987m).
