Ski area La Chapelle d'Abondance

The winter sports area of La Chapelle d'Abondance is part of the Portes du Soleil with approximately 650km of slopes. The family-friendly area in La Chapelle is Crêt -Béni/La Comba with 10km of green, blue and red slopes. In addition to skiing, you can also go cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, dog sledding, go to the snow fun parks and go snowboard crossing. In the village you can find ski rentals, ski passes, various ski schools and après-ski.

Winter sports holiday for the whole family

Crêti -Béni, the ski area of La Chapelle d'Abondance, is located at an altitude of 1,000 to 1,650m and has approximately 10km of slopes. This compact character makes families quickly feel at home here. Many return every year to go on holiday here. The area is fairly quiet, without mass tourism and ideal for beginners, children, families and intermediate skiers. The ski season runs from mid-December to mid-April and when there is less snow, artificial snow is used to ensure that the slopes remain in good condition. Would you like a little more of a challenge? This ski area also has a fun park for snowboarders and even two snowboard crosses. More experienced winter sports enthusiasts can go from La Chapelle d'Abondance to the large area of the Portes du Soleil with hundreds of kilometers of slopes in both France and Switzerland.

To Châtel and Portes du Soleil

On the one slope of La Chapelle is the Crêti-Béni ski area, on the other side of the valley is the Braitaz ski area. With the Panthiaz gondola you go up to Mont Linleu. Via Plan de Croix near Torgon you then reach the slopes of Super- Châtel and you can continue into the Portes du Soleil. You can then make the famous “Portes du Soleil circuit” which will take you past places such as Morzine , Avoriaz and Morgins and then back to Châtel. This tour takes 6 to 7 hours. On top of these hours you will also need to consider various breaks you will want to take along the way to get something to eat or drink. The circuit is a strenuous journey but worth it. Please make sure that you have the correct ski passes with you.

Skipasses

There are several ski passes in circulation in the Portes du Soleil area.

  • Ski pass La Chapelle / Torgon: This pass gives access to all lifts and slopes of the three ski areas Crêti -Béni, Braitaz and Torgon in Switzerland. That's a total of 75km of slopes and 22 ski lifts. With this pass you also have access to the ski bus that runs between the center and the valley stations.
  • Ski pass Espace Liberté: For the winter sportsman who has the necessary experience but wants to take it easy and does not want to make long day trips, Châtel is highly recommended. This vibrant ski resort is over 10 kilometres away and less than 15 minutes' drive or shuttle from your flat. In this ski resort, you have access to the whole of the Châtel ski area, the ski resort of La Chapelle d'Abondance, the Swiss ski resort of Torgon and ‘Le Corbeau’ in the Swiss ski resort of Morgins. From Châtel, you have easy and direct access to the large ski area of Les Portes du Soleil. This pass gives you access to 49 ski lifts and 78 slopes with a length of 130 km.
  • Ski pass Portes du Soleil: With this pass you have access to all (308) slopes, (290) lifts and shuttle services in the Portes du Soleil with a length of approximately 650km. You will need this pass if you want to complete the “tour of Portes du Soleil”.

Apres ski

In La Chapelle d'Abondance there are several restaurants and other entertainment venues where you can enjoy regional dishes such as the cheese specialties of the Haute Savoie. If you just want a drink, this is possible in the village center or the valley station of Crête -Béni. There are also various options in and nearby Châtel. However, don't expect extensive après-ski and nightlife here.
