During a holiday to the South of France it is always a good idea to visit touristic villages. There are plenty of villages to visit in Languedoc, near the Pyrenees and by the Mediterranean Sea which is where the holiday park L'Espinet is located. You have plenty of choice: you can go to villages between the vineyards, those by the coast, in the mountains or to one of the many authentic villages with historical sights.
Collioure is also known as the St. Tropez of Languedoc. It is located on a bay by the Mediterranean Sea, near the border with Spain. This authentic village has old streets with shops, a beach and lively terraces.
Carcassonne is known for its huge castle, "La Cité". This Unesco monument with huge city walls and imposing towers is a village in itself with houses, restaurants, a large church and a castle where the monarch lived back in the day. It is a must-see during your holiday.
Mirepoix is known for its unique city centre. The main square has loads of old half-timbered houses from the 14th century. Among the houses are galleries with shops and terraces. In the middle of the square there is a centuries-old market hall.
Perpignan is one of the larger cities in the area and is located by the Mediterranean Sea. Visit the historic buildings, the Palace of Majorca, and the Cathedral. Go shopping and relax on one of the many terraces. A small train takes you around the city.

Ax-les-Thermes is located in the valley of the Ariège near the border with Spain. The village is known for its thermal baths and hot springs which can reach temperatures of up to 80 degrees. The village is located in the middle of the mountains and is great for walking. Finish off your walk with a dip in the heated ponds in the village.
Canet Plage is one of the seaside resorts on the Mediterranean coast. You can swim, sunbathe, jet ski, sail and drive a boat. From the beach you can walk into the cozy village which has restaurants and picturesque shopping streets.
