Portes du Soleil has several snow parks, half-pipes and boarder crosses that guarantee plenty of challenges for those wanting to snowboard. Are you more into cross-country skiing? The Ski Resort Les Portes du Soleil has 214 kilometres of cross-country ski trails. For hikers, les Portes du Soleil has 385 kilometers of snow hiking trails. The area also provides the possibility to go on a dog sled and to even participate in skijoring, a sport where you are pulled on skis by a horse.
Ski slopes that belong to L'Essert area surround Abondance. This area is somewhat smaller compared to other ski villages nearby and is therefore very suitable for beginners and families with children. Only a few kilometers away from Abondance there is a larger ski area with much higher slopes. There is a shuttle from Abondance that takes you there in a few minutes. After a day of enjoying the snow, you can warm up in the Spa & Wellness center, where a beautiful heated swimming pool, sauna and hot tub waits for you.
